The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality presented its Virginia Green Lodging Certificate of Environmental Commitment to The Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach, Va. The certificate acknowledges that the property is committed to minimizing its environmental impact. CCR Solutions, which provides staging and rental services, joined the Green Meeting Industry Council. All Access, a corporate event planning firm, changed its name to EventGenuity LLC. The company also unveiled a corporate new identity and website, www.eventgenuity.com. Entertainment Lighting Services of Sun Valley, Calif., produced the “The Simpsons Movie” premiere, which took place in the Westwood area of Los Angeles. The Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Pasadena Convention & Visitors Bureau selected The Hyland Group to be their national sales representatives. Toronto was selected to host the 25th International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis World Congress. MRA, a mobile event marketing company based in St. Clair Shores, Mich., and Ford & Earl Associates Inc., an integrated design firm in Troy, Mich., announced a strategic alliance, expanding their design and creative capabilities.

Ann Ramirez, CMP joined San Diego-based DMC Arrangements Unlimited as sales manager. Vision Technical Group Inc. hired Lawrence Hecklin as vice president of sales. Cole McKellar was named director of new business development, exhibit transportation, for Freeman. Beverly Brin is Ultimate Ventures’ new general manager. Leslie Ludtke and Kimberly Morrison joined MG Design Associates Corp. as account managers. Robert McCormick joined Extraordinary Events as vice president of sales and marketing. Effective November 1, Jorge Pesquera will become president CEO of the Palm Beach County (Fla.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bruce Lehnus joined A.C.T Lighting in a role encompassing sales and development. Christina Burchett, CMP of PRA Destination Management Arizona was promoted to director of operations. Art Hill was promoted to assistant general manager of the Chicago branch of AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions. Tricia Clement joined AGENDA: Kansas City as event coordinator. Ashley Young was promoted to manager, marketing, and Nick Ziebarth was promoted to director of events at Chicago-based sports marketing and media services agency rEvolution.

Awards and Achievements

Eco-Systems’ exhibit systems earned a first-place award at TS2. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre won a 2007 Innovation Award from the International Association of Congress Centres. Stephen Perry, president and CEO of the New Orleans CVB, was named one of the “25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry” by Meeting News. Mike McGee, CFE, executive vice president of North American business operations for Ticketmaster, was awarded the International Association of Assembly Managers Foundation Legacy Award. Julie Ford of Panache was named Affiliate Member of the Year by the National Association of Catering Executives. Alliance Tech won the Corporate Events Marketing Association’s (CEMA) “Technology Shootout” competition at CEMA Summit 2007. Bob Walker, vice president, creative services at AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions’ Dallas branch, received the award for 2007 International Supplier of the Year during the MPI’s recent convention in Montreal, Quebec. Event production company DaVinci Fusion captured the Best Staging/Set Design award for its work on the Tech Museum Awards at the BizBash EventStyle show. Bank of America presented ACCESS Destination Services, San Diego with its Award of Excellence.
