Taos Time: Resort Offers Flexibility, Creativity, Serenity
by Chad Emerson | Published in October 2007 Departments
Head north out of Albuquerque toward the northern New Mexican mountains and you’ll quickly discover wide-open vistas of the beautiful, rugged land that draws many to this almost mystical part of the country.
For many, this drive ends in Taos, an eclectic town that is at once a modern ski resort and an artists’ colony infused with Native American history.
For those seeking a venue with a seamless mix of natural seclusion and modern amenities, Taos offers El Monte Sagrado Living Resort and Spa. Part of the award-winning Kessler Collection of hotels, El Monte Sagrado (Spanish for “The Sacred Mountain”) features top-notch accommodations, including 36 suites, villas and casitas, as well as the renowned Living Spa, where attendees can relax in a bucolic setting centered on sunlight and waterfalls.
Add in an array of unique outdoor activities (from hot-air ballooning to hiking, fishing and even llama-trekking), together with AAA Four Diamond dining, and you’ll quickly see why El Monte Sagrado is a hit with attendees.
As for meeting business needs, the hotel recently expanded its on-property event offerings to 7,000 square feet of modernly equipped space. These range from the 2,400-square-foot Rio Grande Ballroom to more intimate spaces like the Grand Bohemian Gallery or the richly decorated Wine Room — each providing full technical and A/V support as well as on-site catering.
The resort’s mix of modern conveniences in an inspiring natural setting is exactly why Kathy Osborn with VIP Conferences picked it for a recent event.
“The serenity of the property along with the comfort of the meeting space creates a relaxing environment for the participants in which to learn,” she says. “The resort staff is flexible and creative enough to make even to most unique request attainable.”
