J. Franklyn Dickson, CMP Chairman: Ray Bloch Productions Inc.

Franklyn Dickson is chairman of Ray Bloch Productions (RBP), a company he helped grow to national recognition.

In 1996, Production Group International (PGI), a communications and event management company, acquired RBP. The next year, Dickson received PGI’s President’s Sales Achievement Award, and in l998 was PGI’s International Sales Executive of the Year. In 2000, he retired from PGI and resurrected RBP.

Dickson received his master’s degree in marketing from New York University. He spent the first decade of his professional career as professor of marketing, including one year as an exchange professor to Bangkok University in Thailand.

He has written many articles on meetings and special events, as well as one book, “Successful Management of the Small and Medium-Sized Business.”He also developed the Meeting Planner’s Music Library, a library on tape of songs that do not require licensing fees that planners can use.

Dickson was among the first to be designated a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and served for several years on the CMP’s board of directors. Meetings and Conventions magazine has named him an “Industry Leader,”and he has also received recognition from Event Solutions, Meeting News, Corporate & Incentive Travel, Performance Magazine, Meeting Planners International (MPI) and the American and New York Societies of Association Executives (ASAE and NYSAE). In l998, Dickson was named NYSAE’s Outstanding Associate Member.

Dickson has received a Crystal Award from the Society of Incentive Travel Executives for outstanding events and was among the inaugural supplier group to be made a fellow of ASAE. In 2007, he was inducted into Event Solutions’ Event Industry Hall of Fame.

His educational roots are strong, and Dickson has conducted classes and given speeches for ASAE, MPI, Meeting World, Affordable Meetings, Event Solutions, and in the corporate sector for IBM, Armstrong, Merrill Lynch, CIGNA and McDonalds, to name a few.

Dickson personally serves as a consultant and producer for such companies as Merrill Lynch, PepsiCo and Wachovia Securities. He has served on the board of trustees of Valley Forge Military Academy and College, NYSAE’s board of directors and the New York convention and visitors bureau.
