Millennium: We Heart Meeting Planners

Millennium Hotels and Resorts has faith in your meetings. So much faith that it designed the newly reopened meeting spaces at the Millennium UN Plaza hotel in New York City with great views — panoramic views, even. Chrysler Building views. East River views. Roosevelt Island views.
But don’t worry, says the company, it’s not competition for your content — it’s inspiration. And planners aren’t disagreeing.
“When you are in the meeting the whole day, natural light becomes really important,” says Andrea Wills, a meeting planner with business membership and research organization The Conference Board who attended a special relaunch event.
At the event, where guests got to name a meeting room and had a chance to win a trip to other Millennium properties, the Millennium UN Plaza reopened its 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. The redesign features new carpeting, wallpaper, draperies and refinishing on wood paneling, complementing the rooms’ warm tones.
“Service is great, and the staff is friendly,” Wills adds. She also likes its mid-town location.
At about a mile from the Empire State Building, four blocks from Grand Central Station and five blocks from Fifth Avenue shopping, the Millennium UN Plaza offers easy access to the city’s chief attractions.
And don’t forget that it’s right across the street from the United Nations, which means you can take advantage of the international dishes catering to the hotel’s international clientele.
Guests can stay either in the East Tower, which features contemporarily designed guest rooms, or in the West Tower, where rooms have a more classic feel with European and Eastern touches.
And, since the Millennium UN Plaza is part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ “We Love Meeting Planners” program, if you do decide to host an event or meeting there, you might even be happier than your attendees — complimentary room nights, upgrades and frequent flyer miles are just some of the awards the program offers.
