On May 1, 2008, the Event Solutions nomination site for the 2009 Spotlight Awards went live on www.event-solutions.com.
Given the overwhelming response in 2007 — finalists for the Spotlight Awards received over 86,000 votes in all — this year’s nomination process is expected to garner the highest participation ever.
“The tremendous interest in the Spotlight Awards in 2007 shows that event pros are highly engaged in recognizing and driving forward-thinking event solutions,” said Pat McCarrell, publisher and editor in chief of Event Solutions. “It’s a very exciting time for the Spotlight Awards and the events industry as a whole.”
Additionally, over 400 of the industry’s top professionals attended the 2007 Spotlight Awards event in Miami, which honored finalists, recipients and new inductees into the Event Solutions Event Industry Hall of Fame.
Since Event Solutions introduced the Spotlights in 1996, the awards have grown in both prestige and quantity, with 21 elegant award statues created by MK Shannon being presented in 2007. Unique to the industry, the awards honor every talent and discipline necessary to produce a state-of-the-art event.
The Spotlight Awards return to center stage in 2009 after a brief hiatus in 2008, when Event Solutions’ trade show the Idea Factory moved to February in partnership with catersource Conference & Tradeshow.
“After a year off, the ’09 Spotlights are on track to generate even greater interest and offer the innovative ideas for awards ceremonies that consistently make them the must-attend event of the season,” said McCarrell.
The 2009 awards will be held in Las Vegas in February during the 2009 Event Solutions Idea Factory and catersource Conference & Tradeshow.
“Nominating your event colleagues and strategic partners pays them the ultimate compliment,” McCarrell said. “Entering yourself or your company offers the event industry the opportunity to learn about the best in the business.”
