Due to the significance of numbers and days in Chinese culture, Patti Fortunati had to consult local contacts to determine an auspicious day for this networking reception in Beijing for an American venture capital firm.

Fortunati was able to secure a staffing ratio of one staff member to five guests for this Beijing event, whereas in the U.S. it would have been one for every 25 guests, she says.
