Top Producers Sign on to Idea Factory 2006
Steve Hand, president of Torrance, Calif.-based The HAND Company, and Renee Ortiz of Denver-based Eventful Productions Inc. have signed on to produce two of the 2006 Event Solutions Idea Factory events. Hand returns to produce the Event Solutions Spotlight Awards this year after his stunning production, “Theatre of the Senses,” in San Diego (2003) and a production in Miami (2002). The Spotlight Awards are a black-tie event held at the conclusion of the Idea Factory. This, the 10th Annual Idea Factory, will be held in Denver from August 20-23, 2006 at the Colorado Convention Center.
Nominations for this year’s awards are open until February 27. Honoring outstanding event industry professionals and companies that provide services to the industry, the awards celebrate all aspects of event production, design and execution. A veteran event producer, Hand’s enthusiasm for this year’s awards is certain to make the 2006 Spotlight Awards yet another unforgettable event. “I am thrilled to be involved in the 10th anniversary show,” he said. “The evening will be unique and memorable, a once-in-a-lifetime event.”

Renee Ortiz will produce the signature Event Solutions Fabulous Showcase Event at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The Gardens, with more than 32,000 exotic and native plants, is recognized as one of the top five botanical gardens in the United States. The 23-acre site will provide a picturesque setting of fragrance and foliage that will delight the senses of those attending the 2006 Idea Factory. Working with Ortiz, local and national event planning and production companies will showcase entertainment, culinary, lighting and technical innovations that are leading the way events are produced.
Colorado is home to hundreds of festivals and events each year. Eventful Productions Inc.’s (EPI) specialty is managing large outdoor events, and the company is involved in several of Denver’s premier summer festivals. EPI’s signature event is the annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, held in late July, which attracts 100,000 people annually. The event features an Asian marketplace, multicultural performing arts and exciting dragon boat races, where over 50 teams compete by racing 40-foot-long dragon boats to the beat of onboard drums. Ortiz, president of EPI, is an active member of the local events community and currently serves on the Colorado Festivals & Events Association’s board of directors.
