Denver Casino Offers Unique Atmosphere
by Renee Ortiz | Published in February 2006 DepartmentsThe Double Eagle Hotel, Casino and Conference Center in Cripple Creek, Colo., is a venue characterized by its unique historical elegance. Surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, the property is a registered historical landmark, and each remodel has been closely monitored to ensure that the historical integrity is maintained. Definitely off the beaten path (approximately 2.5 hours from Denver and just over one hour from Colorado Springs), the hotel offers 158 sleeping rooms, three restaurants, two casinos and a variety of meeting spaces.
In the heart of the historic building, the Conference Center can hold 300 people reception-style (or 360 with theater seating) in approximately 5,500 square feet. For smaller groups, the conference center breaks into three rooms. Each of the three rooms is equipped with ceiling-mounted projectors, motorized screens, ceiling speakers and podiums with all A/V controls, including ambient room lighting.
Overlooking the Conference Center is the impressive 15-person Executive Meeting Room, equipped with all of the latest A/V to suit even the most technical groups. In addition to these spaces, planners can also utilize third-floor and fourth-floor hospitality rooms (each with theater seating for 45), as well as a private greenroom for entertainers or speakers.
In addition to catering options for meeting rooms, guests can enjoy three restaurant choices. The Jackpot Deli is perfect for a quick sandwich or snack. Lombard’s is the mainstay, with a full breakfast buffet and other dining options focusing on steak, seafood and Italian cuisine. The fine dining option, Winfield’s, is the perfect setting for an elegant and special meal.
Contributing to the room’s sophisticated ambiance are photos of Cripple Creek in the late 1800s, reminding guests of the history that surrounds them. Additionally, the local Gold Camp Victorian Society can entertain and educate groups of any size as they dress in Victorian style and discuss the history of the area.
