As executive producer of the 2005 Event Solutions Idea Factory General Sessions, The HAND Company, along with its team, captured the possibilities and potential of large-screen productions in the three separate and individually topical sessions. Vast, seamless screens create wide-ranging opportunities for showcasing creativity, demonstrating technical savvy and delivering messages. Global meeting and event production company Planning the Globe took advantage of these possibilities with its powerful multimedia presentations. Pictured above is Jazz Impact, which was featured in the Opening General Session.

Exploring all of the capabilities, the screen displayed overall background imaging. Screen-within-screen capabilities were maximized with the use of slides, videos and live camera shots from multiple cameras throughout the ballroom. Use of the large and engaging images brought a sense of intimacy and immediacy to the General Sessions that provided the impact that Steve Hand, principal of The HAND Company, his team, the speakers and Event Solutions desired in the programs’ messaging.

  1. The 20-foot by 60-foot seamless screen provided by The Screen Works displayed projected background images from customized graphics created by A/V equipment rental company Hi-Tech. Planning the Globe created and produced multimedia, screen-on-screen introductions customized to each of the three General Sessions.

  2. Picture-in-picture was projected from slides, video or live cameras on-site.

  3. PowerPoint supporting the topic of the speaker, Jazz Impact, was provided by the featured performers themselves.

  4. Close-up live shots of performers as well as wide stage shots for the picture-in-picture were created by two separate cameras from Hi-Tech.

  5. Hi-Tech’s strategic lighting illuminated the performers without washing out the images on the screen.

  6. ASI Production Services provided multi-level staging that projected into the audience, bringing viewers into the performance.
