From the Publisher: Fresh Start for the New Year

By the time you’ve reached this page, you are well aware of a dramatic change for Event Solutions magazine. I hope you love it as much as I do!
We’ve redesigned our logo and the entire layout of the publication. There are new departments and a fresh look to the continuing columns. The magazine is bigger, the cover is stunning, the design is current…I could go on and on bragging about our new look.
The magazine you are holding, or reading online, is just the start of an exciting year ahead for all of us. If you haven’t heard or if you’ve only heard the rumors: The same innovative investment group behind fellow industry magazine and show, Catersource, has bought Event Solutions. What this means for Event Solutions is that our company will be infused with new backing, allowing you to see an immediate improvement in all of our products.
Besides the magazine, you will also see a cutting-edge digital edition, starting with this issue, and future changes to our website and conference.
The Event Solutions team now has an enhanced opportunity to continue serving the event industry as a voice for planners, producers and service providers – and to do so in a fashion that you would expect from our fun and trendy profession.
For me, personally, this is a fresh start and a rediscovery of my passion for my work. I will have been with Event Solutions for 10 years next month and in the event industry for just over 20 years. Like all of you, I am always looking for ways to motivate and inspire myself. Going to conferences, reading great stories, reconnecting with colleagues and attending webinars all help me get through the stressful parts of this business. Every now and then, you get the chance to really be inspired and these changes at Event Solutions are just that for me – new inspiration.
The new owners are committed, my new boss is talented (and, yes she is nice, for those who have asked!) and the company has a successful track record for building on the strengths of a product and supporting its industry community.
With this fresh start, our entire team and I are looking forward to creating a dynamic new beginning for 2010. I hope my optimism is contagious and wish for each of you inspiration, motivation and new beginnings.

Meredith McIlmoyle is the publisher of Event Solutions magazine and leads the Event Solutions team in coordination of the Event Solutions Conference & Tradeshow.
She brings more than 15 years experience managing relationships with partners and clients across a broad spectrum of the event industry. She joined Event Solutions in January 2001, and has since excelled in a number of roles including magazine sales, tradeshow sales, sales manager, and conference director before assuming the lead role as publisher.
Her roots in the events industry run deep, beginning in her college student days, planning alumni, sports and fundraising events with the Office of Special Events at Arizona State University, from which she earned a B.A. in Journalism.
After earning her degree, she moved on to work for multiple event services and production companies, including TBA Global, Image Entertainment Productions and Ultimate Events. Meredith’s expertise in new business development grew through experience in every aspect of events, including: entertainment, weddings and social affairs, corporate events, meetings, conferences, plus outdoor fairs and festivals.
Meredith is an avowed outdoor junkie and constant volunteer, working as a Certified Marine Naturalist, volunteering for an assistance dog program, participating on a committee for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and walking annually in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day event. She lives in Anacortes, Wash., with husband Sean, son Brayden and their golden retriever, Blaze.
