Space of Dreams: Wynn Las Vegas: A Good Bet for Planners
by Chad Emerson | Published in December 2007 Departments
In a city with over 9 million square feet of meeting space, finding a great venue for your Las Vegas event is an almost sure bet. But at one venue — Wynn Las Vegas — planners are finding that the odds of a successful event are particularly stacked in their favor.
The Wynn is the latest offering from the resort’s owner and namesake, Steve Wynn, who first brought to the Strip such heavily themed options as the Mirage, Treasure Island and the Bellagio. Like those properties, the Wynn features extensive conventional meeting space, in this case over 200,000 square feet, including the dramatic Lafite and Latour ballrooms.
But what separates the Wynn as an event venue from many other Sin City offerings is the large number of unconventional options — highly immersive spaces designed to impress attendees with unique receptions, lunches and other less formal sessions.
At the Wynn, the uniqueness reaches its peak with the Lake of Dreams — a three-acre lagoon backed by an eight-story mountain and waterfall — where dramatic special effects entertain guests with surreal sounds and images. For planners, the resort offers several different venues around the lake specifically designed for special events. These include the award-winning SW Steakhouse and Daniel Boulud Brasserie.
For the most drama, however, try the Parasol Down lounge, which provides three exclusive balconies — all available for full or partial buyouts — that offer front-row seats for up to 100 guests.
That solution worked for Courtney Lewis, marketing communications manager with Brijot Imaging Systems Inc. “The private location and the casual elegance of the South Show Terrace is truly an expression of Wynn excellence,” she says of the patio overlooking the Lake of Dreams.
Indeed, in a city full of event spaces, you might say Wynn Las Vegas has gone all in for you and your attendees.
