SEARCH Fundraiser: Champagne on Ice
Events Industry Shows it Cares in Glittering Event

One measure of any great industry is the philanthropic efforts of its leadership and members. The special events industry, after being devastated by the dot-com crash and terrorist attacks, and later by natural disasters such as the Southeast hurricanes, responded with the creation of the SEARCH Foundation, with the mission of raising money to assist those in the events industry in times of catastrophic need.
The SEARCH Foundation fundraiser at the 2006 Event Solutions Idea Factory filled the Strata Lobby Bar of Denver’s Hyatt Hotel beyond capacity, as hundreds responded to that mission.
If the venue wasn’t overwhelmed by the number of attendees, the foundation certainly was, raising $42,000.
A one-carat diamond, valued at more than $3,000, was the central raffle item, and guests lined up to purchase glasses of champagne to receive their raffle tickets. A silent auction of donated products and services served to further tempt donations.
The glittering rock was donated by Hearts on Fire Diamonds, and Pauline Parry of Good Gracious! Events won the raffle, only to donate it back to the foundation, which then auctioned it off. Carl Jones III was the successful bidder in the auction.
