The purpose of all Event Solutions’ education programs is to help train planners and producers in multiple primary disciplines within the event, meeting and conference planning fields. The Event Solutions Certificate Program allows attendees to earn certificates to enhance their professional expertise and credibility with clients and employers.

Courses through the University of Nevada Las Vegas allow participants to earn an Event Management Certificate and Continuing Education Credit. Other specific series allow attendees to get in-depth knowledge about focused segments of the industry.

Certificates of Completion from Event Solutions

Certificates of Completion are offered to planners who attend five (5) of the designated core-specific classes in the Corporate or Association Tracks, designated with CT or AT in the class schedule. This year all the Event Greening classes qualify for the certificate programs. It is not necessary to sign up for the Corporate or Association Track sessions in advance. Seating at all sessions is on a first come, first seated basis. Schedule subject to change.

Corporate Planner Education Track (CT)

The Event Solutions Certificate Program requires attendees to complete 5 of the 16 specified number of core courses in the Corporate Planner Education Track to earn a Certificate of Completion. Any corporate or in-house event or meeting planner/producer is encouraged to follow this track of classes.

Association Planner Education Track (AT)

The Event Solutions Certificate Program requires attendees to complete 5 of the 16 core courses in the Association Planner Education Track to earn a Certificate of Completion. Any association or non-profit planner can benefit from the track of classes oriented towards this dynamics and needs for this segment of the events industry.

University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Event Management Classes

Professors and adjuncts from the Tourism and Convention Administration Department in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, will offer a series of event management classes at the 2008 Idea Factory in Las Vegas. These fast-paced educational sessions are geared toward all types of planners, including corporate, association, independent, education, fair, festival, non-profit, government, incentive, reunion and wedding, as well as other event professionals in the industry.

Continuing Education Credits

Attendees who successfully complete all six classes of training plus the case study session and the round-table discussion will earn an official certificate of completion from the university and 1 (one) continuing education credit (CEU) with payment of a $30 fee. Program participants will pay $30 (check or credit card) at the end of the program and will receive official notice of the awarding of the CEU and the certificate in the mail through the university’s Educational Outreach department. A permanent transcript of the CEU will be available to each student.

2006 & 2007 Idea Factory Alumni

Students who completed this program at the 2006 and 2007 Idea Factory can also apply for .9 CEUs or a full 1.0 CEU with additional work. Students who took classes in 2007 who did not complete the program can take the missing classes in 2008 to get this credit.

The 2007 Event Management Certificate curriculum includes the following courses:

Event Solutions Education Series

Both of this year’s education series are offered as an in-depth look at focused segments of the events industry. Weddings have long been an area of expertise for many planners, and with the addition of catersource’s expertise, we offer a combined wedding program to enhance all wedding planners’ knowledge. The Event Greening series takes a look at the environmental issues and possibilities planners will face in 2008 and beyond.

Wedding Planning Series (WS)

New in 2008 will be a combined wedding planning series that will include classes from both catersource and Event Solutions to present a broader base of production as well as food and beverage elements.

Green Event Planning Series (GS)

Green isn’t a trend, it’s a business strategy in which many planners are being asked to increase their competency. At this year’s conference, new sessions will teach environmental management standards, how to find and select the right supplier partners, how to measure what matters and what socially responsible events really look like.

Event Greening sessions help you explore sustainable solutions with earth friendly foods, beverages, supplies, product and services and to create a truly “green event” while positively affecting your bottom line. All Event Greening Series courses will count towards the Corporate and Association Tracks.
