Move over roses. The latest trend in floral is using what some think of as weeds mixed in with traditional arrangements to add texture. Think sage, jasmine, sweet peas and Queen Anne’s lace to name a few, according to Carly Cylinder of Flour LA.

Kristen James, a floral design expert who blogs at kiokreations.com, agrees. “There are a lot of flowers out there that our mothers and grandmothers might refer to as ‘weeds,’”, she writes, “But (surprisingly) some of them can actually function as beautiful wedding flowers. My favorites include Queen Anne’s lace, thistle/eryngium, scabiosa and scabiosa pods. These weedy blooms are totally on-trend and perfect for combining with more traditional flowers to create a unique, textural mix for both wedding bouquets and centerpieces.”
