Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh, Scotland, is opening an International Centre for the Study of Planned Events. The new center will conduct research to advance the formation of government policy and promote industry sustainability in the field of events such as festivals, fairs, conferences and meetings.
The center, based at the Queen Margaret University campus, was formed following comprehensive research endorsed by 75 government, event industry, and United Kingdom and international leaders.
Dr. Joe Goldblatt, an international figure in the field of events management, will direct the new center.
“[The center] will provide governments, industry and other stakeholders in the planned events field with much-needed resources for advancing study in this rapidly growing field of professional practice,” said Goldblatt.
The center will act as a consultancy, develop products and services to benefit the events industry, and offer tailored training programs for government and well as other organizations.
