Summer Style 2012: Linens Go Bold and Luxe

From bold and brassy to soft and organic, linen styles for this summer are anything but boring.
For those who prefer to take a walk on the dramatic side, pairing bright colors can produce eye-popping effects. Of course, Tangerine Tango (Pantone’s color of the year) is going to make a lot of appearances, but expect to also see fuchsia, hot pink, lavender, lilac, sage green and Tiffany blue.
Another hot trend you’ll be seeing is texture. Creative Coverings recommends taking a look at Dupioni fabric, a polyester version of raw silk. Rosette and lace designs will be big on the bridal scene this summer, from dresses to tabletops to pillows. For texture, also think crushed look, pintuck fabrics, damasks or tone-on-tone fabrics.
For a little more understated elegance at summer weddings, David Brooks of Partyfabrics.com is predicting that planners and brides will be asking for a soft color palette with scrollwork and striped patterns. “White, silver and ivory fabrics create a beautiful backdrop for subtle color accents,” he says. “They look fantastic as table linens with napkins or table runners in accenting colors, or luxurious ceiling drapes and swags around the room.”
