When you decide to have a party on the roof, and the only way up is a passenger-sized elevator, what do you do? Bring in a 265-ton hydraulic crane, of course, and hoist everything up, from tents and furniture to HVAC units.

That’s what Choura Events of Los Angeles did when helping to produce a Grammy-related after-party on the roof of the posh L’Ermitage Hotel in Hollywood. The site was chosen for its spectacular view of the city and because the owner of the hotel was friends with the party’s host.

It took five days to set up the event. The crane hoisted 60-foot pre-built tent beams to the roof as well as three tents, including a stage tent with booth seating, a lounge tent and a storage tent for crates and equipment. All tents featured clear canopies to afford guests a great view. Traffic control and flagmen were hired to handle traffic on the busy Beverly Hills street during set-up. The rooftop swimming pool was covered with flooring, and five-ton HVAC units kept the crowds cool.

Choura worked with Best Events, the producer, as well as Illumination Dynamics, Power Trip, Felix Lighting and Special Event Contractors. Choura has provided planning, design, catering and rental services for more than 40 years. To learn more, visit www.choura.us.
