Arizona Event Pros Show How It’s Done

The Arizona Chapter of the International Special Events Society showed that it knows a little something about special events recently when it hosted “A Wedding for All Seasons,” featuring celebrated event designer and wedding planner to the stars Preston Bailey as the guest speaker.
The event was produced in conjunction with the chapter’s “Dream Wedding” giveaway, a contest designed to highlight the inner workings of the special event planning industry to the general public. ISES AZ partnered with local station AZ Family/3TV and Mysweetconnection.com to promote the contest, which received over 300 applicants wishing to win the $35,000-plus event.
The “Dream Team,” which consists of ISES members and other local industry frontrunners who will be donating different aspects of the wedding, narrowed the list down to five finalist couples, who were featured live on air. The couples were then invited to attend the ISES event, where they met with Preston Bailey and local event planner Julie Levy to get wedding tips from the experts.
Bailey, known for producing dramatic events, has worked with some of the world’s most famous faces — Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Joan Rivers, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, to name a few.
The “Dream Team” also showcased their talents at the event as well, allowing the couples and the local event industry to see a glimmer of what’s in store.
The event was held at the Castle at Ashley Manor, located in Chandler, Ariz., which divided into four quadrants, each representing a different season. Each display featured linens, floral, attire, invitations, cake and catering that matched the specific look and color scheme and showcasing some of the industry’s latest trends.
Viewers chose the winning couple, and they will also have the opportunity to vote on various aspects of the wedding — from the dress the bride will wear, to the menu they will feature, to the décor and beyond — as the station chronicles the couple as they go through the planning stages.
The wedding will occur on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 and portions of the event will be shown on local television.
